Automating Course Progression Using "Add to Campaign"
Sequencing Campaign Progress
ConveYour allows you to automate learning sequences by moving learners between courses based on their progress. This is done using the Add to Campaign feature, which ensures participants complete content in the correct order.
There are two primary methods for sequencing courses:
Using an "Arbiter" Campaign to control progression.
Triggering the next campaign at the end of a course.
Method 1: Using an "Arbiter" (Umbrella) Campaign
In this method, a separate "arbiter" campaign is created to monitor learner progress and automatically move them to the appropriate next course.
Example
A company has a structured training program:
Welcome Course
Level 1 Training
Level 2 Training
Instead of adding progression rules within each course, the arbiter campaign contains multiple "Add to Campaign" triggers that move learners based on completion conditions:
Learners complete the Welcome Course → Arbiter campaign moves them to Level 1 Training.
Learners complete Level 1 Training → Arbiter campaign moves them to Level 2 Training.
Setup Steps
Create a new campaign specifically for sequencing learners.
Add "Add to Campaign" content items that trigger when learners meet the right conditions.
Set conditions for each step:
"Campaign Progress = 100%" for the prior course.
Specify which campaign to add them to next.
Ensure messaging is set up so learners receive a proper welcome email/SMS for the next course.
This method centralizes sequencing in one place, making it easier to modify paths without editing each individual course.
Method 2: Using "Add to Campaign" at the End of a Course/Campaign
Instead of using a separate arbiter campaign, this method places the "Add to Campaign" item as the final step in each course to transition learners to the next stage.
Example
Instead of a separate arbiter campaign, each course handles its own progression:
The Welcome Course contains an "Add to Campaign" trigger at the end that moves learners to Level 1 Training.
Level 1 does the same to move them to Level 2, and so on.
Setup Steps
In your course’s content list, add the "Add to Campaign" item as the final step.
Set conditions for adding learners to the next campaign:
Click "Manage Group" to define who moves forward.
Select the "Completed Lesson" field and set it to the final lesson in the course.
Choose the next campaign in the sequence.
Optionally, customize messaging to notify learners they are advancing.
This method is simpler than using an arbiter campaign but requires updates inside each course when making changes to the training sequence.
Choosing the Right Method
Use Method 1 (Arbiter Campaign) if:
You want a centralized way to control learning paths.
You expect to modify course sequences over time.
Your learners might skip steps (e.g., fast-track options).
Use Method 2 (End-of-Course Trigger) if:
Your learning path is fixed and will not change often.
You want a simple, course-by-course progression.
You don’t need centralized oversight.
Final Considerations
Ensure completion tracking is accurate so learners progress at the right time.
Set appropriate messaging in "Add to Campaign" items so learners receive the correct onboarding when moving forward.
Use reporting tools to monitor when and how learners are moving between courses.
